I grew up in Maharagama, a suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka, where I witnessed the hard work and dedication of my parents, who worked tirelessly to provide for my sister and me. My father was a truck driver, while my mother worked as a seamstress in a garment factory. Their determination and sacrifices instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility and a desire to care for them in their later years.

After completing my GCSEs, I pursued studies in IT and eventually got married at the age of 24. With the support of my father-in-law, I ventured to Vancouver to further my IT career. However, fate had other plans, as I encountered an accident that led to a back injury just a month after my arrival. This setback prompted me to return to Sri Lanka to be with my family.

I have been privileged to work with Tripplanify Travels since 2015, and my dedication to this esteemed organization stems from a mutual respect and appreciation for the values we share. From the outset, I have strived to excel in my role as a guide, delivering exceptional service and creating memorable experiences for our guests.

One memorable experience that stands out is my interaction with a delightful German couple, who were among my first guests from Tripplanify Travels. One of my favorite guest stories is a delightful and amusing anecdote that occurred during a cultural show in Kandy with two wonderful German clients. I had explained to them that the show involved traditional dance performances, but there was a slight misunderstanding. They interpreted my description to mean that they would be participating in the dancing themselves!

To my surprise, when we arrived at the venue, my guests emerged from the car dressed in their finest attire, looking as if they were ready for a grand ball. It was then that we realized the miscommunication. Despite the mix-up, they decided to embrace the situation with humor and grace.

Throughout the evening, they remained dressed to the nines, enjoying the cultural performances with an air of elegance and sophistication. To our amusement, they became the center of attention, receiving compliments and admiration from both locals and fellow travelers alike.

My favorite aspect of being a guide is the opportunity to share my heritage and the rich tapestry of Sri Lankan culture with guests from around the world. It brings me immense joy to introduce travelers to the beauty and warmth of my country, allowing them to experience firsthand the unique traditions, flavors, and way of life that make Sri Lanka so special.
